Job Description

The Health & Wellness Director is responsible for the strategic leadership and overall management of the YMCA's wellness programs, fostering a culture of health and inclusion for the YMCA members. This role focuses on enhancing department performance, improving member retention, and elevating staff accountability to deliver high-quality programs aligned with the YMCA's mission. The Health & Wellness Director will lead the wellness team and oversee operations, programming, staff development, and budget management, driving innovation and excellence in all aspects of the department.

Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years' experience working within a Wellness/Fitness department, including supervisory experience
  • An undergraduate degree (or advanced degree) in exercise science, kinesiology, nutrition, or physical education
  • Must have current First Aid, CPR, and other safety certifications
  • Effective leadership skills and strong work ethic
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, computer skills, ability to learn proprietary software, payroll processing, scheduling and general office equipment
Essential Functions
  • Lead the branch wellness team in implementing the Association's best practice model for excellence in wellness programming and operations
  • Develops and manages the Wellness budget
  • Responsible for branch personal training and Active Older Adults programming
  • Recruits and collaborates with YMCA staff to enhance and strengthen all programs
  • Attends all required branch and association meetings
  • Participates/coordinates special events and fundraising efforts
  • Promotes and markets Wellness Programs to the surrounding community
